"The Muse Is In!" The sign above the door read. "Midnight Madness Awaits... Enter at own risk."

Pausing at the door I wondered, "Do I dare?" When all of a sudden a voice sang out in my soul, "Do you dare not?"

Contemplating the question momentarily until with the great gust of a wind, this heavily carved wooden door blew open to reveal .... tv stand, but not just any tv stand and not any tv...
"Come join us for Sunday Night Supper and feel free to bring a friend." The invitation read.

Ah, Sunday Night Supper! Who could resist. The very thought draws to mind a warm and fuzzy feeling of a time almost now distinct from our modern day society. It reminds of us a time when families gathered on the Sabbath for a restorative pause before the start of a busy work week.

In times of old, suppers were often cooked over open fires, later to be followed by electric ranges. But today, as a new year dawns, the George Foreman Grill is the cooking fire of choice, especially if healthy grilling is on the Sunday Night menu.
Someone had drawn in chalk, with a whimsical style and flourish, the letters C & M & B.

"C, M and B?" She asked.

"Yes! C is for Caspar, M is for Melchior and B is for Balthazar." came the response. "They are the three kings."

And so every Christmas Season, this special tradition was recreated in loving memory of a miracle that came down from Heaven over 2000 years ago- a miracle that lives on to this very day-a miracle for you and for me, for all of humanity throughout the world.

I love the internet. Why? Because the information that we can access is so empowering.

No matter what our question is... we can find answers and solutions with the click of a mouse.

"Come by tonight for popcorn and movies," the peppy and fired-up voice on the the other end of the cell phone said.

"Sounds like a plan! Can I bring something?"

"Just bring you! And a date if you wish!"

"A date? Where am I going to find a date?"

"On second thought FORGET THE DATE! I have someone I want you to meet."

"Oh NO, not the home theater seating sales rep!"
"Hand me the box cutter," i said to my assistant.

Within moments the culinary gadget was out of its shipping crate and sitting on the stainless steel prep table.

"Wow! What a beauty!"

"This is going to be a major help around here."

Buy low, sell high. Master this and bingo the prize is yours!

Now we hear all the gloom and doom if we tune into the TV news and talk shows. Almost everywhere we go folks are agonizing over the state of the economy.

Ok... so housing prices are dropping like a rock.

But what so many people don't realize is that there is always a silver lining in times of difficulty.

What a great time to buy that real estate... Wilmington NC real estate!!!

Go ahead.... make it happen and remember BUY LOW AND SELL HIGH!!!
For the special celebrations of life, the last thing we ever want is to break out. But sometimes that is exactly what happens, especially to young people.

I remember how much I thought about the importance of having perfectly clear skin for prom night. Even though my skin was near perfect, sure enough a pimple popped up the day before prom.

I wanted to die!

A pimple on prom night just wasn't acceptable!

I think I have a new love.

No, I'm not talking about the romantic sort.

I'm talking about a new activity. Ever since hearing about cardio-kickboxing last week I've been hyped up to give it a try. In fact I'm so hyped-up I want to go all four nights of the week that they offer it!

Depending on a couple things, either Monday or Tuesday will be my first class. Yippee! I'm ready to whittle this bod down now that I gave you-know-who his walking papers!

Shopping for a Washington DC dentist?

There are few things in life more important than a beautiful smile!

How many times have we read those words on dental ads?

But of course, it is true. A beautiful smile opens the door to unlimited possibilities in life!
I am a big fan of using the internet to find the things I need. It is great to be able to google whatever you need in life!

Whether you are actually shopping or just doing your research, the Internet is always the best place to start.

Forget the materialistic stuff, the Internet is amazing for researching just about anything under the sun.

Have one of those questions that maybe you are too embarassed to ask someone... google it!

One of the fun things about going to a catering conference is the opportunity to meet other caterers, learn some new things and to check out some interesting restaurants.

I'm looking for some light, heart-healthy Mexican recipes for a friend who hails from the Southwest.

For weeks he has been fed a generous diet of Southern comfort foods, as the recipient of a loving church's bereavement meals.

But those wonderful Southern comfort foods are usually packed with fat and calories, and are not the doctor's orders for someone who is trying to lose weight.

I'm hoping to find some inspiration at My Recipes, then let my creative interpretations kick in.

In my business moving trucks are often needed for very large jobs.

Over the years I've realized that it often makes more sense to rent these trucks as needed, rather than to maintain my own fleet.

Granted, the branding that occurs with movable billboards is priceless. Perhaps moving truck companies should lease sign space on their trucks!! win-win!
Not everything that we whip up in the kitchen needs to be edible.

Cosmetics and beauty products are a great thing to cook up! Check out your local library, bookstore or even right this minute simply type "kitchen cosmetics" into your browser and see what comes up.

Maybe type in homemade acne cures... it's worth a try and who knows you might end up saving a bundle, too!

Hmmm, I would be a Jaguar! Granted, some days I don't feel like a Jag, but then I rarely feel like a car, either!

Snippets of sound sent shockwaves through the country and abroad at the news. The selection had been made. A brilliant choice? A dumb choice? Only time would tell!

Now we wait and see. We read the headlines, try to digest the articles and separate the biases.

If we are smart, we become consumers of a more balanced media, not letting one or another pundit propagandize us with their philosophy. No we demand more of ourselves, for we are intelligent and we will not be manipulated by either a right wing or left wing media.

We use our brains, we use our own values and we use our common sense and then maybe we will see the results that we desire. And if we don't....all is not forsaken, for we live in a democracy where the potential for the truly extraordinary can and will happen for those that believe! jobs in Dallas

Sometimes it takes a while for our desires to bloom as we would hope that they would.

But in all reality, it is only natural that our seeds of desire go through a biotic process.

Anyone knows that you can't pitch a field of seeds one day and find a lush field of crops the next day.

When I first started blogging, Orlando vacations was one of the first topics I wrote about. But in my heart I wanted to do more than just write. I wanted to go and taste Orlando since it had been awhile since I had visited this fun Florida city of dreams.

I have not yet done the Orlando jaunt since writing about it... but I still trust that new opportunities will blossom in this ever amazing journey through life.
Here is a Tinsel Town trick for airbrushing your way to younger looking skin. The September 22 issue of First Magazine says that the "gorgeous songstress Sheryl Crow swears by this technique, which virtually lifts any sagging skin to make you appear years younger- no Botox required."

Sounds good to me, especially since I don't even need to buy something special!

"Use a blush that is one shade lighter than your usual tint, start about an inch under the middle of your eye and extend the product over the top of your cheek's apple."
Two Hundred Sixty Four Calories, 1 gram of protein, 42 grams of carbohydrates and 10 grams of total fat ... and they call this a light and luscious treat?

I suppose they are saying it is light in what is good for you and luscious in that which is not!

The recipe is for a Peach-Kissed Cheesecake that combines peach melba and cheesecake.

So the question begs to be asked... what does a regular cheesecake cost in calories and fat grams? I suppose it's off the charts and we can't afford it ...unless of course we want to go bankrupt with our daily allotted calories for maintaining a healthy weight.

Make Your Own TV Show
By Jesse Somer

If you’re anything like me, you’ve spent many, many hours of your life watching television. From sit-coms and game shows to cartoons and reality TV, we’ve sat in front of the box for a large part of our life watching stories of one sort or another. What we mightn’t have known is that for every one show that gets on the air there were probably a hundred that didn’t make it. This might be hard to believe with shows like ‘The Joe Schmo Show” and “The Simple Life” out there but our world is a strange place with weird people, now isn’t it? However with the advent of the Internet and legal file-sharing you can now film your own TV show and put it up on the Web for everyone to see. If it’s any good, word will get around. That’s how the Internet works: Word of mouth.

You no longer have to make a pilot show and sit in front of a large group of executives praying that they will like your material. Television is heading for your computer, literally. You can already download some of your favorite corporation-backed shows on the Internet legally, for a small price. It is a commonly held belief that in the not-to-distant-future computers and televisions will become one, a flat digital screen replacing your monitor. Eventually all TV channels and individual shows will have websites where you can download and stream their programs. The interesting new phenomenon is that you can join in the fun too. There’s a low barrier to entering the Internet TV game. We have now been given the freedom to produce, and to share our stories with the rest of the box-watching world.

Check out http://www.welcometothescene.com/index.shtml and http://www.purepwnage.com/. These two sites are a couple of the multitudinous masses that are now being put up on the Web for people to watch and share. It can almost be thought of as an artist’s exhibition, where you and your TV-maniac friends finally get to show your shows to the rest of us. I get the feeling that the whole idea is based around the concept of freedom. We get the freedom to create, a medium where we can choose to show our creations, and the freedom to download a show and share it with our friends. Word-of-mouth spreads and all of a sudden your show’s got a huge underground cult following. What happens next in the story? You tell me.

As always people are going to try and make a dollar out of something cool and new on the human scene. If you look at the show on http://marcushateshisjob.com/ you will see a pretty funny TV program. It is sponsored by Sprite, a division of the Coca-Cola Company. There’s nothing really wrong with this (artists have to get their funding from somewhere) except that it could possibly result in nearly the same paradigm as the old TV company-controlled structure, if Sprite achieves power to dictate what content goes into the show. There’s a name that has been coined for this sort of behavior and in this case the product-placement, commercially-based Internet program fits into this category perfectly: Astroturf. The former shows are grass-roots programs, a sign of the individual freedom that can be obtained on the Internet. Astroturf makes itself out to look like grass-roots philosophy, yet like football, it is definitely a more painful place to get tackled.

The whole concept of file-sharing has a huge amount of nebulous clouds surrounding it, but in this case things are simple. You want people to watch your show. You haven’t downloaded someone else’s copyright material. You’re sharing your own creation. Get to it people, and get it to the people. I want to see what you can do. One can only take so many reruns of “Gilligan’s Island” and “Different Strokes”. ‘What you talkin’ bout Willis?’ is what they’ll be saying after watching your inspirational new television masterpiece. Hey, you might even start a whole new era. Remember, one day, a long time ago (and thank the Universe for it), no one even knew what a sit-com was!

I'm still curious about the tv show idea that I wrote about in the last post.

When I went to the website I couldn't figure out exactly what they were selling. Are they selling technology that will simply allow me to download my own videos into a tv format? Or are they simply selling a way to watch tv over the Internet? Or are they selling some cutting edge concept that will forever change the network playing field?

I'm very intrigued by a google link that I spotted last night for creating your own tv show in less than 2 minutes.

I don't know... but if you click on the link you can surely discover everything you wanted to know about Apidexin but were afraid to ask.

If this site fails to provide your answers, a quick google search should answer any question that you can come up with.

Boxes are a great lift for buffets. Simply use a few different heights.

You will either want to place them directly under your table linens or you can place them on top of your base linen and then drap them with additional tabletop dressings.

I prefer the later, because it will be so much easier to rearrange them to the absolutely perfect spot.

Horses as part of the wedding party? Sure! Why not?

Especially if you live a horsey-sort of lifestyle. Some of the most compelling wedding photography I've ever seen included horses. One was a picture of a bride and groom riding bare-back on a sandy beach. The horse sported a sign, "Just Married."

Please don't get me wrong!! Let it go on the record that I am a huge supporter of locally-owned businesses!

I am also a major supporter of locally-owned businesses developing their web presence.

For the first time in the history of world commerce, a level playing field was created where small mom and pops could compete with the giant conglomerates!

Who would have ever thought that someone could create a billion dollar enterprise out of their 2 car garage or their Manhattan co-op?

Kudos to the world wide web that forever changed the world as we once knew it! Kudos to those who are not afraid to embrace this technology with extraordinary possibilities.

It is hard to believe that there are still people around today who consider the world wide web as a gigantic social threat. When will they realize that the web is one of the greatest gifts of our modern era?

Look before you love! A few years ago, I discovered this book of the same name at Barnes and Noble. I had to have it!

Times were tight, but I splurged and bought it to add it to my personal library.

Gloves are perhaps one of the most critical resources from a safety perspective in a food service establishment.

But it is essential that gloves are changed frequently and that an operation keep cases on hand to protect the safety of the guests.

For catering gigs I like to supply each of the staff members with their own supply of a dozen or so gloves for the event. If they exhaust their supply, there is always more on site available at a central location.

For those who are self-catering their own parties... don't overlook the importance of some sort of plastic deli or latex exam gloves.

Some of the most profound thoughts and compelling advertising can be found on
funny t-shirts!

I've never been a big fan of t-shirts for myself. Probably because I never liked the workmanship of t-shirts. They seemed cheap. Completely non-designer apparel!

Botanicals...hmmm. I've always believed that God provided all the natural living plants that we would ever need to survive. For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by the medicinal qualities of herbs, fruits and vegetables.

This fascination was so great, that I actually wanted to major in this field of study in college. But it was my college advisor who said, "Kathi, the science will kill you."

I heeded her advice and veered off in a different direction only to find myself continually pulled back to that first love. Thirty years later I still am fascinated by the power of natural edible substances for healing, vitality and longevity. Curcumin

I have learned more over the last few years than I learned in all the accumulated years of my life put together.

I recognize this is a pretty bold statement.

During these last years when I had the opportunity to reflect on the lessons of a lifetime, I was finally able to put my knowledge, skills and understanding of life into the proper perspective- into a workable perspective that took the work of a lifetime to a whole new level.

Anyone who knows me, also knows that I am not one to be satisfied with the status quo for any length of time. I am one who is restless to raise the bar and to break through previous barriers in this great adventure we call life.

Expect the unexpected! The future is ours to seize and that is precisely what I intend to do!

An old assignment to write a review on dog tags sits at the top of my queu. Each time I post completed assignments, I skip this assignment because the dog tags I am suppose to write about never arrived. Or maybe they did and somehow got lost in the transition between Tallahassee and Havana.

At any rate, I figured I'd go ahead and post something because the uncompleted assignment is getting on my nerves- I want it done!

My inspiration is to write about Cindy, my childhood pet, a blue murrell lassie-like collie and to write about a recipe for baking home-made dog bones for your favorite pooch.

Do you have a product that you would like reviewed? While I will write about a variety of products, my special focus is on products that we will be using at the new Canopy Rose Culinary Arts Studio and Catering Company.
'Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained." ~ Madam Marie Curie

Herein lies a seed for a good story, from the epitaphs of life.

"It's these turnaround or these pivotal moments that introduce you to yourself- these small or these huge catastrophic events in your life- I do think that that's where you really meet yourself." ~ Sheryl Crow

While none of us go out in search of the difficult and unimaginable troubles we might find ourselves in, it is hard to deny the character gifts that come out of life's hardships and trials.

As a caterer, special event designer and teacher of cooking classes; I love the novel opportunities that serendipitously enter into my life. You know what I'm refering to, don't you?

I'm talking about the sorts of opportunities that don't come along every day. The opportunity to cater at the Masters for Nike golf clubs, teach Florida Cuisine cooking classes to legislative wives or lead a group of foodies to Tuscany and Umbria. It is these extraordinary opportunities that add the delightful flavoring to my work.
The new Culinary Arts Studio is preparing to begin running classes in our new facility. What an exciting time this is! New possibilities are blooming every single day!

While I'm busy coordinating teachers, workshop leaders and class ideas I'm also busy gearing up for re entering the catering field, after having taken a sabbatical of sorts for a few years. as I do this I'm evaluating auto accessories that might be helpful in transporting catered foods from the commissary to the event.

Kitchen Knife Skills 101

In our line-up of upcoming cooking classes, a kitchen knife skills class is being considered. I am looking for an instructor to teach this class. If you are a certified chef in North Florida or South Georgia and are interested in teaching a class with the Canopy Rose Culinary Arts Studio and Catering Company call Kathi Dameron at 850-539-7750. We are looking for a few chef-instructors to round out our schedule of recreational cooking classes. Have some ideas for another cookery class? I'm open to suggestions! safety utility knife

Now that Canopy Rose is being resurrected after a sabbatical of sorts, I suppose I will be changing this blog to be reflective of the goings on of the business.

On Thursday, we received our DBPR licensing for our new location in Havana, Florida. I hope to be ready within the next couple weeks to swing open our doors for cooking classes, special food events and of course, catering. But in the meantime there is a bit of organizing and fine tuning still to be done. While I have most everything that I need after having been a caterer and special event designer for many years in Tallahassee, there are still a few new items that I would like to add. For these I will visit directbuy.
