I am so thrilled with the tile we installed in my new kitchen. Not only is it a GORGEOUS imported tile from Italy with fabulous styling, it has a texture that prevents slips!

Safety is one of the issues people often forget when selecting ceramic tile.

Take marble- cold, slick and beautiful, but it has to be one of most dangerous floor surfaces available.

Work with any online company, credit card company, banking organization or the like and you are likely to hear the term merchant services used.

When I opened my business, the teller at the bank said, "Can I have merchant services contact you about setting up credit card processing services for your new business?"

To which I responded, "Well, thank you very much but I'm not too sure that I even want to accept credit cards. I'd prefer checks any day."

"Oh why is that," she proceeded.

"Well, to be honest, I'm just not a fan of credit cards and I am not a fan of the credit card processing fees associated with accepting cards for payment."

"You might lose some business.'

"Well, I suppose that is a risk I'll have to take."

In retrospect let me say, it is good business sense to offer credit card payments to your clients.

Forget the vintage diamonds and rubies, sapphires and emeralds...I'll gladly accept Contemporary Jewelry any day!

Ah, contemporary jewelry! I love it! Big baubles of bling. Best part of all-if you should lose these sparkling treasures, no need to fret since they didn't cost a king's ransom!

Now here is a secret...these fabulous finds make nifty Christmas Tree ornaments, fabulous frivolty adorning gifts and whimsical napkin rings!
"Let's lose weight fast ..."

Now there is an idea! Perfect for the coming holidays when we want to look extra special in our holiday finery.

But be forewarned my friend.

Quick weightloss does not always EQUATE to long term weight maintenance.

Believe me I've played the game, I've lost, I've won and always I've ultimately GAINED.

So does this mean I'm going to sit this one out?

Heck NO! Pass over the pills and I'll giove it another shot!
Shopping for lighting fixtures is one of my favorite things to do.

But going in person can be a real drain on the ole'energy. That is why I have come to prefer doing the online browse before I ever step foot in the store.

Online, you can get a good overview of different styles, material compositions and price points.

So next time you are in the market for new lighting... why not visit some websites like the Lighting Showplace dot com?

"It's like apple and oranges," the salesman responded.

"Apples and oranges?" I asked as I scratched my head, trying to understand the analogy the red-headed salesman was making.

"Look at it this way, you wouldn't ask your auto insurance carrier to provide your health insurance. Why would you expect you car insurance to provide your RV insurance." He said

Manufactured homes have come a long way in the past forty years. I remember when walking down the long narrow hallway meant a slight undulating feeling as the floor swayed beneath your feet. No doubt this construction may be found in some poorly built homes, but most are now bound by laws to the building codes required by the states in which they are sold, meaning Floridians get hurricane construction, and Oklahoman's get tornado crafted type homes. All in all, these manufactured homes are afar sight better than those of the fifties and sixties.

With bikini days here once again, it's a perfect time to go on a diet. However, from years of experience I've learned that dieting is about the hardest task one ever has to accomplish in life.

Some folks are just genetically predisposed to having a more challenging time controlling their weight. While some people can eat almost anything and still maintain a decent weight, others struggle for years with weight related issues.

Will appetite suppressants help for people who are die-hard stress eaters?

I've often wondered this.

When my stress level seems to top the charts, I could kill for chocolate! It's true. I will do almost anything for a rich chewy chocoholic-lovers dessert.

Well, will the appetitite suppressant take away my cravings and leave me equipped to handle the stress du'jour?

I really need a healthy solution.

Combining households ... and the one thing that we could really use is what I gave away when I moved over here a year and a half ago when I felt divinely led to live the old European way, "above the shop."

My building in the historic district did not have a garden, unless you'd call a postage stamp-sized plot of soil with 2 rose bushes a garden... HARDLY!

Well as life would have it... it is time to move once again. I'm getting married. Good golly, imagine that!

So as I mentally merge my stuff with his I find myself for the first time missing the wonderful garden furnishings and outdoor pieces I spent a lifetime collecting.

Perhaps a new hunt will commence...let the fun times begin! patio furniture
Security is a good thing, especially in today's world.

During the era of my youth, unlocked homes was the norm. Did anyone lock their doors in the 1950's and 1960's?

Today it is hard to imagine anyone not locking their doors. Post modern day life has ushered in wireless security systems that almost seem a necessity to survival.

Can we ever go back and return to the simplicity of earlier days?
If you are anything like me and face the constant struggle of trying to maintain a relatively healthy BMI, you too might be interested in knowing about diet pills that work!

You also are probably interested in the safety issues related to the consumption of diet products.

The bottom line is ... we want to know if diet pills are safe for both short term and long term usage.

We sure don't want to discover 10 years out that we have heart valve damage.
There is nothing more uninspiring than predictable party menus!

Spinach dip, meatballs and chicken wings all fall in this category of ho-hum party fare predictability.

But the bottom line is that we all have our moments when we fall short on creativity and find ourselves pulling out the ole' tried and true taste treasures that always seem to please the crowd.

Where, oh where do we look for new ideas, new inspirations - you know, those fabulous ideas that catapult us out of our complacency and lift our bodies and spirits to new summits?

Five pounds down, three pounds up, ten pounds down, four pounds up. Sheesh!!

Yo-yo dieting seems to be the story of my life.

Seems that I need a better strategy, a strategy that keeps me on target and focused on my goal.

As a lover of good food, the word diet is a dirty word in my vocabulary. Perhaps I need a stash of diet pills in my pantry.
The Outer Banks are one of the most beautiful places in the Americas, according to my son, who spent an extended maternal family reunion there some years back. He compared it favorably in thrill level to hiking the Rockies in Colorado. The sense of openness around the water matching the wide open spaces found at 14,000 feet on a clear spring day. Makes me want to go back and experience them both again.

With all the good food around here- it is hard not to eat!

Perhaps what I need is a diet pill. Yuk!

I've just never been too crazy about dieting and I am not thrilled about the idea of popping pills.

Pop my pills or pop my buttons.... some option!

Who would have ever thought that times would get so difficult?

Those who study history, and have the ability to keenly understand the interplay of current and past economic & political policy are certainly not surprised.

Many said the handwriting was on the wall. Could we not have predicted the trillion dollar price tag of a jihad that from where I sit seems to have accomplished little more than lining defense contractors pockets and tragically ending so many people's lives.

Oops, there I go getting political again... when all I really wanted to do was share a website where pink-slippers can find jobs in IT.

Sandy, David, Dorothy.

Three precious souls that share a commonality.

Not a commonality that most would wish to share.

Together and yet very distinct in their own unique way, each have been inflicted with a disability that has compromised the very quality of their lives.

Oh, how I wish I could wave a wand and heal their infirmities.

Oh, how I wish I could do more to share the hope that I have found- the hope that is available to all of us regardless of who we are, where we are or what we have done.

That hope ... that miracle that manifested in an inflicted world over 2000 years ago.

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday and the miracle lives on. Once again we will don our Easter finery to celebrate the resurection of the ultimate healer.

Westgate whistles in my mind as I recall his words.

Spoken messages pieced together.

Seeking clues.

Divine clues.

Looking for that God-breathed love story.

Has my time arrived?

My appointed moment for truly witnessing the deepest desires of my heart bloom before my very eyes.

Ah, what a glorious gift!

A gift that comes wrapped in ribbons from the heavens above.

Nothing beats long holiday jaunts and romantic weekend getaways, especially if you are coastal bound! Imagine if you will, a lazy month of Outer Banks rentals! Mmmm! My imagination purrs at the very thought.

This summer, hy not get away for a little R & R, a lot of luvin, and a splash of surf! And if you are feeling especially creative- why not attempt to write the Great American Novel! What could be more delicious?

Everyday the news seems gloomier than the day before. Layoffs and company closings are happening in numbers that boggle the mind and stress the spirit.

Times are bad and many predict that the state of the world economy will only continue to get worse.

For some people, the closing of one door can open the possibilities for new opportunities, new careers, and new callings. Even if you have not been impacted directly by a lay-off, it is always smart business sense to increase your marketplace value.

Times such as these present excellent opportunities to retread!

While shopping for slippers the other day, I saw the cutest boots.

They were bold hued in shades of pink and perhaps grey and splashed with yellow polka dots!

Too cute and certainly more suitable for a girl than a businesswoman. Actually they were the sort of boots one could imagine Betsy MCCALL wearing.

At any rate these rubber boots that were perfect for April showers got me thinking and wondering about where my trusty old gardening boots might be. Did I send them to the Goodwill during the move? Or did someone pay a quarter or two at one of my many garage sales?

In an earlier time, shopping for fine corsets was perhaps a cherished tradition.

Oh, how our lifestyles have changed from days of long ago!

I wonder about the different eras of my ancestors. I wonder what their lives were like... and what similarities we might share.

I wonder what other threads would tie us together.
Designing the perfect kitchen is something so many of us think about.

Once upon a time I thought it odd that people who rarely even stepped into a kitchen had such an interest in kitchen design, appliances and the latest gourmet gizmos.

"Why do you care so much?" I asked a chap many moons ago.

"New and updated kitchens increase the value of a home," he said.

"Makes sense to me!" I responded.

As a chef, I like a new and updated kitchen, not so much for the increased value of a home, but rather for the increased efficiency that is often the byproduct of a good kitchen remodeling.

One minute the motorbike carrying two passengers was breezing along on a beautiful
Indian summer day, the next it was lying in a fiery mess along the interstate.

The impact of collision so great, the young couple never knew what hit them.

"Big detour!" a gentle and vaguely familiar voice said.

"Some shortcut, son."

"Welcome to the other side." said another with tears of joys and tears of sadness running down her face.

"Mom! Is that you?" He said as he hurled his soul into the one who had bore him 22 years earlier.

The Dollar Store has become one of my favorite shops! Go figure! I'm sure once upon a time I wouldn't be caught dead shopping at a Dollar Store.

But let's face it...the bottom line is that it is very nice to see our dollars stretch as far as they possibly can.

But sometimes I wonder if it is possible that I'm actually spending more on stuff at the dollar store. What if those things that I'm dropping a buck on --- might only go for 59 or 69 or 79 cents anywhere else?

Next time I think I'll do a little comparison shopping, just to see for myself.

"Let's do popcorn and movies," the words of a developing invitation played across the movie screen of my imagination.

I checked my private collection of videos for the perfect comedy.

Ok... maybe I don't have just the right one but I know where I can get it. If not the public library there is always BlockBuster or Net Flix or Movie Gallery.

But for now we will have to make do with my rather small screen, but maybe one day I'll go all out and invest in a home theater.
Exercise classes, morning hikes and diet pills....

Hopefully this is a strategy that will work in successfully losing weight in 2009.

Yet, there remains one BIG ISSUE!

Sometimes I don't know if I really want to lose weight. Please don't get me wrong. I certainly want to be healthy and disease free. But I love to eat!
